DRAW, DRAW, DRAW!!! FUN, FUN, FUN!!!!

Welcome! This meetup group is for anyone who wants to practice drawing or painting in a supportive environment. The group welcomes artists at varying levels, so don't be shy.  There are plenty of experienced artists to give tips and answer questions. Non-toxic materials are mandatory, i.e. no-odor turpentine, nor turpenoid for oil painters.

Meet, greet, draw, paint and sketch at parks, gardens, museums and cafes. Occasionally we might take a trip to San Francisco, but primarily, this will be centered in the East Bay.

We host monthly figure drawing parties- with live music, beautiful models, booze, coffee, and famous naked historical figures to inspire your pencils and pens. Come make art with us and be a part of something sacreligious...

Zentangle is a fun and easy to learn drawing method for creating beautiful images. This group is open to anyone interested in learning more about Zentangle and to those who are already tangling!

Let's get together on weekends to wander around San Francisco, sketching people and places. You don't have to be the next Paul Madonna, just someone who likes observing city life and making marks on paper.    (Note that we used to be called Urban Sketchers. Same group, just a different name.)

A class for beginners that will be learning specific ensemble pieces using drums, bells and shakers and also xylophones. The curriculum is called World Music Drumming. It draws on traditional rhythms from West Africa and Afro-Latin America as well as other cultures. It is a great place for adults and children (age 9 and older) to make music as equals. Of course, you don't have to be a family member to join.

… The xylophone pieces are also drawn from folk traditions. Songs can be sung with the ensembles, again drawing primarily from folk song, but you won't have to sing unless you want to.  The ensembles will be taught by rote. Adults with fragile hands who don’t want to drum can still easily take part using shakers, bells and mallets. The ensembles are easy at the beginning and slowly become  more demanding.
